An odd thought involving the possible future of artificial intelligence...

Maybe AI as a term is out these days and I should have said Decision or Mimetic Sciences.

Anyway, I was thinking... one day artificial intelligence may come to the point that humans can either be mimicked so well that it's impossible to tell the difference between the real deal and a fake, or it may come to the point that the ai can actually make cognitive decisions in the same way (or better?) than humans do.

Then I was thinking about how one day the human conscience might be able to exist in electronic form.

Then I was thinking... what if the opposite was possible? What if we could take one of these human-level artificial intelligence entities and somehow put them inside a human vessel? Would this entity be human? Would it have a soul? What does it mean to be human? Etc.

Then I was thinking... boy am I crazy. Sometimes I have lots of crazy, scary thoughts.

Too many "what-ifs" to truthfully consider?

Watch Bladerunner, A.I., or any number of other such movies.

Good books to contemplate this are "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" and many of Isaac Asimov's novels.

Some LSD may help when trying to understand "out there" thoughts like this one 🙂

I've got one of them hooker bots on pre-order 😀

When I get enough time some day, I'm gonna write a series of interlinked methods that is supposed to behave like a brain.. AI isn't really intelligence at all until it knows how to learn. Then, give it some Internet access and a dedicated box, and it should become smart in like no time.

The methods will be like 'learn', 'mood', 'think', 'forget' etc..

Teaching it how to interpret English will be a hard part.. but I think it wouldn't be that hard for it to automatically add words that it has not read before to a database and keep track links of synonyms. I'd have it keep track of which type of word it is and its multiple meanings. It could even learn another language. I figure with a 100GB hard drive or so, remembering some pictures and video wouldn't be too far off. Then, I could 'teach' it how to interpret those pictures (when I get to be a better programmer).

It would be somewhat independent, but its interests will depend on interactions with the user. After all, what use is a robot that isn't interested in the stuff you are?

It wouldn't merely repeat back stored responses for certain phrases. Instead, it will formulate responses based on its mood and current intelligence. It will tend to say phrases that it has 'read' before. It will also evaluate responses to new phrases to determine whether or not it shold re-use them.

Anyway.. if I ever get to it, methods like 'see' and 'hear' might not be so far-fetched. It just takes a little piece at a time.
