So why do they suck? Your page just attempted to debunk the specifications, it doesn't address power use, footprint, geometry, and lack of eyestrain. Those facets of LCDs definitely do NOT suck.

Lol. I am sure I'll read that at some point, but I don't even need to. I own two high quality 21" CRTs. And one high quality 19" LCD. The LCD looks better then both the CRTs. I prefer to not only do normal day to day stuff but I also prefer to game on the LCD. I have no issues with ghosting and it just flat out looks better.

It's not the LCD panels fault companies like to exaggerate the specs. I know viewsonic is known to do that.

Well i didnt even read it but i can tell u right now LCD's are way better than old CRT's.

WTF you idiot. Did you even read the article? It never says anywhere that lcd's suck. It's basically saying that the ratings that some manufacturers put on the lcd's are innacurate and therefore should not be trusted.

well the article said that "not all LCDs are necessarily capable of reproducing 16.7 million colors"
it's a major problem for a lot of people.

Be quiet ugly duckling. LCDs have become to hard to shop for. And as you can see people trick you with contrast ratios and color capabilities. Reasons why they suck.

I don't care if they are outselling CRTs.

1. They come as part of a default bundle to many consumers.

2. Consumers are too ignorant.

Yes, everyone must save that penny on the power useage. You have such a limited supply. Not familiar with this foot print. Many Flat CRT claim perfect geometry. My flat CRT has perfect geometry, I have no problem with it. A Flat AG can do wonders. Eyestrain, hah. Only the special notice eyestrain at 85Hz.

Well, the main thing that sucks about them is price.

I wanted to replace my 17-inch CRT with a bigger screen, but I didn't want to pay tripple the price for something with the same size screen - plain and simple.

Sure, LCD's look sexy and generaly have a nice picture... but what happens when you want to play a game of 800x600 on an LCD with a native res of 1024x768 or larger? You get a black frame around the game which shows as if it were on a small screen, or the display must interpolate and used mixed number of pixels to represent the picture. Those are other issues which bother me about LCD's.

The main reason why they are now outselling CRT's is they are sexy and thin. People like that. But they are pricey too.

A 17" LCD doesn't have the same screen size as a 17" CRT. LCD's fill the whole screen unlike CRT's.

Sure they are. I at least prefer mine to my 21" CRTs. The only issue for me is older games that must run at lower resolutions. I just don't play those anymore. The image is much better then my CRTs so its worth it.

My 22" CRT at 100hz OWNS any LCD for anything, except how big it is and how heavy it is... I do although own a Samsung 172N I use for Lanning but I prefer the picture on my crt vs it

For you maybe. I own a Mitsubishi 2040u and also a Sony G520p in addition to my Samsung 192t. The 192t looks much better then both of the CRTs.

Prefer CRTs myself. LCDs have very noticable blur in first person games when sharp turns are made - and please don't gimme that crap about refresh rate - even at 120Hz it's noticable. To get refresh high enough to where it's bearable takes more money than most people have.

That said, it certainly can't be said that LCDs suck. They have their strengths and weaknesses just like everything else.

I see VIAN got lotsa fish with his flamabait, once more I'd have to say.

anyways, LCD's are just different, no better no worse. I cant stand CRT's with their non square pixels anymore but I dislike the non black black of my LCD, so it's never perfect, always a compromise.

That Can display non native resolutions without issues
With Accurate color replication
No ghosting
As fast a response time as CRTs
