An internal application error has occurred for Windows Media Player

when i launch windows media player it comes up with the setup for WMP 10. after i click next next finish it says application error has occured. everytime i open windows media player this happens. also, i tried downloading windows media player 11 and installing it and it gives me an installation error and tells me to try again. anyone have any idea how to fix this?

 
I ran into this problem on one of our machines a few months back. There is a problem with the Javascript registration on your machine. To fix it, re-register jscript.dll and vbscript.dll files using regsvr32. Those files are located in the system32 folder.
