hello guys,
could u tell me of any device which could help me connect my T.V to my system(CPU)? I need this to record my my T.V shows(since the r many hat r not posted on the net). Iknow i can do this by using a T.V tuner card in my system, by i want to do this directly by connecting my T.V to my system. any suggestions on whether there is a device like this and where i could get them?

Welcome to AT.

An alternative to a tv-tuner card would be a VIVO videocard. That would allow you to take an incoming stream from a video out source and get it onto your computer.

I've never used one so I don't know how they handle the audio end of it though.

hey buddy,
thanks for the advice, but i was actually seeking an alternative( a device) to doing the process without using a T.V tuner card.

hey buddy,
thanks a lot for the suggestion, but that wasn't exactly wat i was lookin for. probably it was my mistake, i don't think i stated it well.
well here it is, i have a T.V where i see all my shows and i have a computer, now all i want to do is get a connector or something like that, so that i could connect my T.V to my computer, so that i could record all my T.V shows. actually i don't want a T.V tuner card or anything like that coz i don't want to watch it on my computer i only want to store it on my hard disk so that i can write it on a CD using the writer on my computer or write it directly on a CD if possible.
i hope i was clear this time, thanks again for the help.

Well it's not like you can hook an s-video cable to a harddrive, you need some hardware between the two. Something like these products will be able to take an input signal from a video source and will have software allowing you to record it.

yes buddy,
i guess u r right. actually the details of the poduct have not been mentioned properly. it only says that it a TV tuner and a FM tuner also. i don't know whether it can be used as the one i want, without using the Internet T.V or being a T.V tuner card. i hope i am not asking too much but could u suggest something on the cheaper side.

just like vcr's , the stuff that records the show (in this case computer) must get the feed first then out to tv. When you are recording on a vcr you are not directly capturing the tv's screen, but rather the vcr's own signal, you don't see it but its there 😛 Unless of course your tv has vid/audio out (not in) then you can record from the tv's tuner. Your vid card has to have vivo(video in/video out) jack to capture the signal then

Dude, either you get a tuner (card or USB gadget) to record the SIGNAL off the incoming cable/antenna/satellite/whatever, or you get a camera to record the PICTURE off the TV tube. No inbetweens.

hey guys
thanx a lot for all the suggestions. i will definitely keep in mind all of them, especially the last one(hahhahhahhaha).

Another, maybe cheaper solution is to buy a small TV for use in the same room as your computer. 🙂
