Financial markets have become a bulwark against populist excesses | Phillip Inman
Custodians of global wealth have reacted with anger at attempts by people like Trump and Truss to revolutionise the economy
When I was young I wanted a revolution and I still do, and I was a Beatles fan not because I liked what they were saying but because they were saying what I already could see. This piece, from a news organization to which I donate money, a plug if you will, raises all the really important questions on this subject that have relevancy to me. My best friend in those days told me that there will be no revolution because too much money was at stake. It's always easier to destroy than to build and lots of people focus on building financial security as a path to security and worldly success. The article speaks of this breaking effect on Trump.
For thousands of years, in my opinion and millions of years in some ways, humanities struggle to survive as a species has gone down a path of social evolution, that the success of the individual is related to the successful cooperation within the group in which we have our being., liberally evolved deal making barter and trade system and tribal fidelity that generates by in by being win win..
It's basically liberal business ethics that has been responsible for huge worldwide improvements in the standard of living. But for every strategy that brings evolutionary success, better psychical and psychological security, the parasites will follow, just as drugs and the profit to be made from them snuffed out the Dawning of Aquarius. Selfishness, narcissism and psychopathy only feed when a system exists in which such behavior can find a foothold, profit and survive.
The piece ends with the question about what will happen if our children keep getting the shaft. I have, since being introduced to the Bible as a child, understood that nothing good will happen if your actions, never mind your thought are for yourself first. Human life longs for the this kind of behavior from others. Nothing good will happen without feelings of magnanimity. To become magnanimous is to increase in size ones capacity for emotional empathy, I would say. That is where the real revolution has to be in my opinion. People with a capacity to love others make the world better for all.
