It's not at all exhaustive but it is interesting. Winc created the 686b FAQ at Viahardware and also worked a lot with Via over the problems

But putting excuses aside (which I'm sorry I have made for a long time for VIA technologies) the proof in the pudding is that the VIA motherboards DO have issues which OTHER motherboards have proven to not show.
 
Not quite. They were able to reproduce sound corruption with the VT8233 southbridge on both a VIA reference board and MSI retail board as well as the 686B southbridge.
 
I am with TunaBoo, but I suppose it is a good read for the newbies. 😉
