I likey, but at the same time i'm in no hurry to buy (good thing too, since it isn't actually on sale here yet ;)) and i'd love to read a few decent reviews of it...

I haven't personally seen any, but I really haven't looked either. I don't have one yet, but I 100% will get one. I'll want to play exclusives like the Final Fantasies and MGS4 (which isn't coming out on the 360, contrary to popular fanboy belief). Devil May Cry looks good too, and I'm sure God of War 3+ will rock.

Costs too much
Good Blu-Ray Player
Cheapest Blu-Ray player
Can't upscale currently
Games pretty much suck (only one I've plaed is Resistance, which is widely heralded as the best game available, and I found it to be a boring, cookie cutter FPS with waaaay too many cut-scenes and a totally whack story)
sixaxis=not impressive

Can't upscale? What does that mean? How much upscaling would you need if it outputs 1080p? Is that referring to using the PS3 as a dvd player and it not upconverting to 1080??

OP, I think that a review of a console is worthless without a review of its games, unless you are looking for a review of the PS3 as a blu-ray player. I found some reviews of that a week ago but can't find the links... the basic points I read were that it was a good blu-ray player for the price, but doesn't output at 1080p/24 which is not a big deal since most TVs can't receive 1080p/24.

read the latest article in EGM with one of the head Sony guys. It'll give you a good impression of what kind of company Sony really is and how they feela bout he PS3, and it will give you an idea of what EGM honestly thinks about the PS3.

also, why are you saying that all reviews are "biased"? Is it because they are pretty much all negative? So are you just asking for a positive review of the PS3? The problem is ... the PS3 just isn't that good in any aspect, other than being a cheap blu-ray player or a $600 linux box. Whether you want to believe it or not, at it's current state and time, it's the truth.

In any respect? I think it is good in almost every respect except price. What am I missing?

this little thing called "games". The ps3 has no good games on it as well as a very lacking online community. Their "system seller" RFOM is as generic a FPS as you can get. And yes I've played it.

Then we have motorstorm which is a pretty cool game, but it won't make anyone go shell out $600.

The rest are all on other systems and look better on the 360 (aside from other sorry exclusives to PS3 such as Genji).

i think alot of the negative attention to the ps3 is due to the competition..... it might be good compared to past sony products but not compared to its competition today.

since the ps3 costs more sony has to show you why you want to spend the extra money over a 360 or wii (which ive said from the first day they announced pricing... making it more expensive isnt bad but they have to show you why spending the extra $ would be worth it and they havent shown enough of a difference) and right now most people dont think they have (other than the bluray player which lets face it 90% of the world doesnt care about yet... maybe in a few years.)

In a year or so when their big name exclusives start coming out it might be worth the 500/600 but by then I think most people expect it to be cheaper.

It's been less than 6 months. Few consoles have a killer game lineup after 6 months. Halo for the original Xbox was the only good xbox game for a long time. I'd argue there actually isn't a good single player Wii game. I own 5 wii games and rarely play by myself... it's only good for multiple people. Zelda is just like any other zelda game so far... the weird thing being that the controls seem worse on the Wii despite being better than the gamecube version. There's some weird thing where I expect better controls from a Wii game subconsciously and when they are not great, it makes them seem awful.

At this point, I'd say the PC is still by far the best gaming platform.

i doubt such a thing exists today. everybody hates Sony and with good reason. the thing is that the PS3 has about 2 good games and that's it. you can buy it as a cheap blu-ray player but it only has 2 worthy games right now.

Checking out the links now

I think the more ardent detractors forget it's not been that long since it was released, if i recall correctly the 360 had pretty lackluster launch titles, as well as a healthy batch of overheating/dying 360s, and no equivalent generation competition into the bargain ;)

I'm very interested in it from the blu-ray point of view, as well as the games, so it makes a reasonable amount of sense at this stage ;)

EDIT: ooh it plays SACDs too :Q

I'm not sure what you mean by generic. How is any FPS game innovative?

Unique weapons? Resistance has a ton of those

Interesting story? I'd say so, creative to say the least

Good AI? I'd say so

Yeah, it's not a new idea, but it's a great FPS. Can you suggest a modern ground breaking FPS? I'd say Resistance is as "generic" as FEAR or Gears of War.

I doubt it. Seems to be 3 groups right now, those that bought the PS3 to resell, those that overpayed from the resellers, and those looking at the PS3 boxes on the shelf asking if they have any Wii's in stock.

The internets consensus is its too expensive and the game lineup sucks.

Just because you like the PS3 doesnt mean they are biased.

I never said they were

I was just asking for an unbiased one, or at least, one that was generally regarded as being comprehensive and above board in as many respects as one could hope for.
