Some of you many remember me running a few contests in the Mar-May 03 time period. I gave away some older computers, but not totally crappy ones either. But, I was moving and did not have the space to keep running some of my slower crunchers. I posted on OT about 5 days before the contest was to begin. I offered a computer, shipping included (no monitor), to the person who would crunch the most WUs in a 30-day period for my account. They had to be new to DC. I did not want to take someone off of another DC team. It was required that the winner had to crunch at least x number of WU, just in case I didn't have a good response. Well, the reponse were great! I am sure I got over 15,000 addition WUs from the contests and gave away 4 computers.
Well, recently I had been thinking of having another contest, but this time giving money. Had not worked it all out, but now I think the TeAm could do this as a way to help our fight with BBR and to generate more interest in DC projects.
We could start with a money drive here in the DC forum. Then when we have an idea how much we will have, we can publish the rules and invitation. Here are some possibilites:
$100 for the top producer for the month.
$10 for the next 5 contestants who crunches over 300 WUs during the month of the contest
$25 for the best WU time average for the month - this allows someone with only one machine, but one that is really cranked to show it off.
Do you have any ideas? Do you think this could help us?
