What if all platforms could play the same online games

example:
you could play a game with your friend when he's on an Xbox 360 and your on a PC

Would it be possible? with the below platforms: ( I know it probably won't happen but would it be possible. )
PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii
 
Keep the PC online world segregated from Xbox live, please.

WoW and CounterStrike are bad enough without the xbox live kiddos.

But... what you are saying is coming......
