OK, I want to start off by apologizing to everyone. Not only have I fallen down in my duties as maintainer of the FAQ pages on the Team website, I've also fallen down in my duties as a member of this team. I have had some real crazy things happening in my life lately (both good and bad) which have combined to keep me away from the team. My machines have all been happily crunching away (mostly SETI, but some DNet for the SETI Cavalry account) so my stats have maintained steady. But the back and forth dialog and contribution to this team have faded. As a matter of fact, I've barely had time to read anything in this forum for over 2 months! 🙁

I'm not going to go into the reasons for my absence, but I just wanted to say that while some of it has lessened, and I hope to be more of a presence again on the forum boards, I am unfortunately not able to keep up on maintaining the FAQ pages as they deserve to be done and I hope someone else can "step up" and provide the time and care they deserve.

Anyway, it feels good to be back, if somewhat limited.

Welcome back JHutch! I was barely here after 9-11 and finally trickled back ~Nov./Dec. so I think everyone understands that sh*t happens... 🙂

And for those that don't understand Sukhoi's cheese reference, he knows where I live and that there is a big cheese factory a few miles from my house. 🙂

The cheese factory doesn't bother me, though... It's the Amish buggies that like to get in my way when I'm late for work (yes, I live smack in the middle of Amish country... and, yes, I still managed to get DSL! 🙂 )

We have them here in Pennsylvania too... A WHOLE LOT!!! 😀

"Pennsylvania Dutch" (or more accurately "Deutch"). They are actually decendants of Germans who came here a couple hundred years ago. They keep to a strict "simple/plain" lifestyle, rarely if at all use electricity or phones, wear traditional "colonial style" dress (no modern clothes), and normally ride around their farms with horses and buggies. 🙂

Very rural folk. 🙂

Also - if you've ever seen the movie "Witness" with Harrison Ford (which was filmed here), you'll learn a bit about them too! 🙂

Went there last summer when I was on vacation at my sister's place in Delaware.!

Yeah, those buggies do get in the way, especially at night when they're hard to see. Luckily I don't drive out that direction much. 🙂

JHutch, can you get cable with Adelphia? Assuming you have cable TV it's only $43 a month, and you get 3000/128 caps. Lately it's been reasonably reliable too. I'm pretty sure that's cheaper and faster than Alltel DSL.
