An exception 0E has occurred --- Help

I'm setting up a new computer for a buddy. Operating System is Windows Me. On SHUTDOWN I get the following error message:

An exception OE has occurred at 0028:F000F841 in VxD ---. This was called from 0028:C001D324 in VxD NDIS(01) + 00005AA0. It may be possible to continue normally.......

I have done all the updates from the Windows Update Site including the update that refers to IDE Hard Drives not shutting down fast? enough and causing some kind of problem.?

I have done a search of the web and cannot find any help. It seems I have seen something about this kind of problem before but I can't remember where or what to do about it. Some help would be appreciated.

I have had this kind of problem before. It may be caused by an old driver you are using or maybe there's a hardware conflict. Go to http://support.microsoft.com and look at Q261766 , Q189655 , Q253241
