Wow, that sounds like our local newspaper. That would make the front page here.

How did she get to college?

Perhaps it would help if you focused less on how it affected you and express more clearly why. It's just a story written by somebody who is older and wiser now. I didn't have your reaction to it. It is getting to you for some reason, causing you to feel something. You may be more comfortable just complaining than looking though and I'd just spoil the fun. :D

Can't be worse than UCI's newspaper.

They send out a weekly e-mail for people to write about something and send it in. They don't peer edit it or anything, only making sure it fits the length and is in the right format.

For example, what's the problem with the little leg? Are you worried that women can manipulate you? Are you afraid to be used? Would you like to feel her leg. Suddenly I see the guy whose stomach talks to him about the sandwich. Are you jealous that you are always going to have to pay? Lots of things can be going on here. Not much fun though.

The way I read the article the girl is making fun of herself too. She finds herself to and her games to be problamatic too. No?

Newsletter aint the same as the school newspaper. ;) Newsletter is just annoying w/ info on it. Newspaper is undedited cr@p that some dumb student writes and doesn tknow what hes talking about. Example: Last weeks article is how we need a "Caucasian Studies" similar to "Asian American Studies."

If he only knew... we already study Caucasian studies since elementary school.

sex + women = power that men (or at least i) don't have

Are you worried that women can manipulate you?

yes

Are you afraid to be used?

yes

Would you like to feel her leg.

probably

Are you jealous that you are always going to have to pay?

i get free parking, the legal way (carpool) :D

The way I read the article the girl is making fun of herself too. She finds herself to and her games to be problamatic too. No?

i'm not sure i'm willing to give the student newspaper enough credit to write satire. another thing that gets me is her sense of self-entitlement.

So the issue is self-entitlement. Why does that bother you that she feels entitled, even though her article was a warning not to assume that you are. So she felt self entitled and got bit by it and admitted it wasn't a good idea and you're still mad at her. Why so hard on her. I got to think you must be hard on yourself. No self mercy, right?

actually i took her writing to be the complete opposite... she's basically whining "i lost, even though i should have been entitled to free parking... whine whine.. chastise, chastise". she's just using this article to rant... i doubt she learned anything from this, aside from where to park.

i'm not that hard on myself, i can't afford to be :p

Actually she hasn't figured out even the simple stuff yet. You don't carry tons of change, you keep dimes nickles and quarters in your car in the ash tray or similar so you always have change for a meter. But what you call not being hard, I might call veing very hard. I can't see getting upset at this girl for her story. I've made the same mistakes, I've cursed at the moon, blamed everybody but my self. I know how we are. It's hard work being above being human. I give myself the luxury of being that girl. You did too. You wrote a big rant about nothing just like her. She's your tow truck company. :D Your story didn't bother me either, but I can talk to you.

I thought it was a good piece of writing, with several well-defined messages. It's a possibility that she never even went through the events described in the story, but just wanted to use that example to get those messages across. (People often confuse the writing with the writer, and believe that whatever an author writes is what they truly believe.)

ok... keep in mind this is the student *newspaper*. when's the last time you saw a fictional newspaper article?

also keep in mind... this is the same girl who wrote an article about how it was horrible how ugly men hit on her.

Do you have a link to that article? I'm willing to bet it's just a part of her writing style, to use understated and indirect sarcasm, to pretend to be the shallow "biatch", while all the time subtly making fun of people who are like the image she portrays. I believe she's better than you think.

gopunk, you didn't tell me you two had been going steady. I didn't know there was a history. The plot thickens. I hope you hadn't been hitting on her or thinking about it when that article came out. And have you tried imagining how you'd react if ugly men were always hitting on you. Well have you, cute guy. :D Girls always complain about that I should think. It's a way to disguise the fact their bragging.
