Congress is about to try and reverse the recent regulations on repetitive stress injury that Clinton approved. This is a great quote from a NY Times article:
"What's happening is stunning," said Peg Seminario, the A.F.L.- C.I.O's director for health and safety. "This rule is 10 years in the making, with 10 weeks of public hearings on it, and now they want to wipe it out with not even one hearing and less than 10 hours of debate. That's about as undemocratic a process as you can get."
It seems to me that, if there was 10 years of debate and 10 weeks of public hearings, then there was plenty of debate. Congress just disagrees with the government agency and the former President and is using their powers from a 1996 review law to rescind the regulation.
I often wonder how spokesmen can keep a straight face when spouting off like the quote above.
