IMO juveniles who are convicted of serious crimes are treated far too lightly by our legal system. This is a perfect example of such a case.

A Kentucky girl who was sexually assaulted could face contempt of court charges after she tweeted the names of her juvenile attackers.

Savannah Dietrich, the 17-year-old victim, was frustrated by a plea deal reached late last month by the two boys who assaulted her, and took to Twitter to expose them--violating a court order to keep their names confidential.

"There you go, lock me up," Dietrich tweeted after naming the perpetrators. "I'm not protecting anyone that made my life a living Hell."

I would hardly say the criminal justice system is stacked in favor of criminals. And if you look at the federal level, the rules are clearly stacked towards the prosecution's side.

The system/process are generally stacked against poor defendants. Wealthy defendants have lots of ways to reduce the chances of getting convicted and have a much better chance of getting a much reduced penalty.

I do agree that the system doesn't appropriately punish some things, while disproportionately punishing other things.

Please post the whole story instead of the sensationalist bits. If you read more about it, you'll note the contempt proceedings were initiated by the attorneys for the rapists and they were dropped shortly after being brought up. The system is not responsible for people starting stupid and disgusting lawsuits and motions within it.

The felons who attacked her are still students at Trinity High School in Louisville. According to the school's mission statement, "Trinity fosters the spiritual formation of her students. As a pervasive ethos on campus and the center of the Trinity experience, the Catholic culture provides a solid foundation for the development of responsible and benevolent young men with strong moral values."

The felons' fathers are alumni of Trinity High School. The prosecuting attorney is not only an alumnus, but he is also a member of Trinity's Alumni Board. He is also the one who gave the boys the lenient plea deal. Here is his picture from the Alumni Board's web page-

And lastly, one of the felons lives with his family near the judge's mailing address. It would not be surprising that the judge has known him or his relatives for years.
