This just happened two nights ago, I'm not sure of what it proves yet except that screwing around in the snow can help you drive safer when there's snow on the roads, if anything.

It snowed about 3-4 inches here and since it's so late in the year, the streets didn't get plowed to save money. A friend was driving me home from @ about 11 and there was no one on the roads, so he decided to screw around in his honda. Sweet car, we were doing wheel spins, e-brake slides, all that, but he is a very good driver, he has been driving for a couple of years now and knows how to handle his car in any situation. On a particular street near my house we got up to about 45-50 mph (35 mph zone); driving smooth, I got home just fine. Never concerned one bit about my saftey. A girl from our school drove on the same road not fifteen minutes after my friend and I went through. She was doing 20-25 mph and has had her lisence for about as long as my friend, if not longer. However, she has not driven as much as my friend. Her car (a lincoln I believe) began to slide a little on the road and she panicked. At first she hit the brake normally (which is the wrong thing to do), and when she didn't stop, she slammed the brake, skidding out of control and taking her car into a telephone pole. She totaled it (no one was injured) and now she has no car.

Despite proving that this girl is obviously not cut out for driving (this is her second major accident in as many months), I think it shows that it's all about the individual driver and their personal experience.
