Alright, I'm quite sure a disscussion of this type has been submitted before, yet I still haven't recieved any answers from local geeks about it. The question I post to you today is, how in the world can my computer be out bench marked by a computer with technology two years older than mine?
Just the other day, I updated my computer's mobo drivers, video card drivers, and windows drivers. As well, I disable many programs that ran in the background and clean up most of the hard drive (i.e. deleted old and unused files). The specs of my comp are as follows:
Mobo: Asus a7n8x deluxe nForce 2
Video Card: Radeon 9600
Processor: AMD Athlon xp 2700+ 2.17 GHz
RAM: 2 x 256 PC 3200 DDR 400; 1 x 512 PC 3200 DDR 400
When I bench marked my computer with Mad Onions 3dMark2001 SE bench marking tool it gave me a score of 9221. I pulled out an old copy of PC Gamer July 2002 edition and compared an Editor's Choice computer score to mine. According to the magazine, it scored 10,277! Its sytem specs were as such:
Mobo: asus a7v266-e
Video Card: Geforce 4 Ti 4600+
Processor: amd athlonxp 2100+
RAM: 512MB ocz pc 3000
What I want to know is, how can a computer with system specs lower than mine and two years older than mine still have a better score? What am I doing wrong with my computer to make it so slow? Is there any way to increase its performace and score?
This has always been an enigma to me. Any comments?
