who trained at le cordon bleu :sneaky:

Not sure if srs.

She went to U. Wisconsin-La Crosse & wikipedia shows nothing else for her education. Apparently she got her start with some bullshit infomercial drapery product.

they do have far too many shows where the concept is watching some fat guy stuff his face

Bullshit like this is why I don't get cable. I don't want to even be contaminated by watching this garbage, let alone pay for it. Until I can pick and choose what channels I get (and avoid), I'm pirating all my tv (that's not on hulu or netflix) & sports.

yep. the only good food show these days is No Reservations, and it isn't even on Food network.

go figure.

but it is available on Netflix streaming.

unwrapped did a thing on food network shows the other day. she said she went to le cordon bleu. and while there she figured out that half of the prep they were doing there was already being done by machines and packaged into boxes for sale.

but specifically, i'm refuting the claim that she's not a chef. not a restaurant chef, maybe, but she's still a trained chef, apparently.

it's even on her about page:

Totally agreed.
Give me America's Test Kitchen or give me death!

Yeah, I really like ATK. I even watch old Julia Child reruns when I get a chance. She did a Pâté en Croûte that I've been dying to make.

This success motivated Sandra to produce one of the first Do-It-Yourself home improvement video series, which sold more than one million copies. Her product lines garnered numerous industry awards, including Wallcoverings, Windows & Interior Fashion’s “Achiever of the Year” and Profitable Craft Merchandising’s “Home Decorating Product of the Year.”

Sandra then attended the world's leading culinary art institute, Le Cordon Bleu. She learned how to apply her philosophy and savvy shortcuts towards gourmet recipes, so that anyone could create and savor extraordinary food easily at home in less time and at a fraction of the cost.

It only says she "attended" Le Cordon Bleu. There are over 18 schools that operate as "Le Cordon Bleu" in the US, and they offer 'short courses.' I'm thinking she just went to a couple classes to try to get some credibility.

I like the show but the way he made gumbo was pretty disappointing. Come on, tomatoes in gumbo? And who in the hell puts boudin in gumbo (I know he did not do it in the episode but he mentioned that people put it in there)? give me a break

I was going to post about this. My friends and I were watching and couldn't believe the comment about boudin. He did several "unconventional" things to his gumbo yet claimed to be a purist. Being from SW Louisiana, we were shocked. If he dropped the ball on gumbo, then what else did he flub up.

Other than that, his show has been cool.

From a quick glance, the following folks are active on the food network and are "real chefs" either currently or in the past ... there are other stars with whom I'm not familiar who may also be chefs

Aaron Sanchez
Alex Guarnaschelli
Anne Burrell
Bobby Flay
Tyler Florence

And all five of them are supremely irritating.

Yeah not only that but I have never had gumbo with shrimp and sausage. Its not that off the wall but normally its either a seafood gumbo or seafood and okra.

Ahh, that's sad. That show was always entertaining. He just recently put out a cookbook that I've been meaning to pick up for the lady. 249 shows though. That's a good haul for any show.
