Not as clumsy or random as a glock.

I just recently picked up a Kimber Covert in .45ACP, but I spotted another kimber in the case I wanted real bad, so I went over and bought it today.

It is a Kimber Eclipse Custom II in 10mm auto, got it and everything in the first pic for $1200 OTD today.

Picture 1

The finish on this gun is absolutely beautiful. Not just a stainless finish, it is more of a "black stainless" - photos do not really do it justice. I played with my camera trying to get a good pic of the finish -

I can't wait to get out and shoot this thing. I used to own a Glock 20 in 10mm, but I foolishly sold it a couple of years ago, and have wanted a 1911 in 10mm ever since. This thing can really be loaded hot, right up to 41 magnum levels. I will have to get to re-loading for this again, and order some of the hotter cor-bon and double tap ammo to make my hands hurt. Nice thing about this round is I can use all the same dies and bullets as I would for 40 Short & Weak.

1200 bucks for that little thing? Ouch. You should get some kind of bullet spraying ak for that price.

That isnt terrible at all. $1200 was for the gun, the extra magazine, and 4 boxes of ammo though. 10mm ammo isn't exactly cheap.

Real quality would be a Wilson 1911 handgun. He had a used one in stock. For $2700, in .45 though.

You get what you pay for.

I understand your point but you could get a few bullet spraying AKs for that price.

Cool, but I never got the appeal of spending thousands of dollars on guns, unless I am planning on shooting a ton of people.

I actually sold a couple of other guns to afford both (a beretta shotgun and an SKS I never use), but I had some cash saved up in my gun fund for a while, just looking for something to spend it on.

You're a real asshole.

I googled that and now the tip of my dick has a bruise on it from getting a boner so quick it slammed against the bottom of my desk.

But seriously, congrats on the purchase. It's a beautiful piece.

$1200 for a gun, spare clip, 4boxes ammo, carrying case and some paper targets?!

holy $$$ 10mm $$$ batman!

hows the recoil of the 10mm compared to the .45?

for $1200, u can get an ak for each hand, another strapped to your back for backup (in the RARE unlikely hood one in your hand would jam).

plus a zillion bullets

I did not get a spare clip at all with the gun. I did get a spare magazine though. Did not have to pay for the carrying case either, it came with the gun (all kimbers come in boxes like that, at least all the kimbers I have ever seen).

The recoil depends on the load. The factory "FBI Lite" loads will be comparable, but the fully loaded 10mm ammo from cor-bon or double tap will have much more recoil than a .45. With those heavy loads, the 10mm is roughly equal to a 41 magnum. The hot loads totally blow the .45 out of the water.

Hahaha.

Very nice gun OP! I don't know much about 10mm ammo though. Is it comparable size to like a .40 or something?

It actually shoots the same exact bullet as the .40 S&W. You can also use the same dies to re-load for the 10mm, and some people even use .40S&W brass and just seat the bullets out farther and shoot them in 10mm's.

The .40 S&W was developed based on the 10mm, which the FBI adopted back in the 80's. It kicked a little too hard for their liking, and the .40 was developed. Because of that, a lot of 10mm guys refer to the .40 as the .40 Short&Weak instead of Smith&Wesson.

Well, it was the original .40 S&W...

It was put in place after the 1986 Miami shootout with FBI agents. The .38s weren't cutting it. The FBI adopted the 10mm but many agents found it unwieldy, so came about the .40 Short & Wimpy, er Smith & Wesson, which really offers nothing over the 9mm.

There aren't many 10mm makers any more. The most high profile was the Bren Ten, which is what Don Johnson used on Miami Vice, and VLTOR (iirc) is going to make a copy of.

AFAIK the only companies producing full power 10mm loads are cor-bon and Doubletap. Feeding them is expensive...

More kick than a .45, but nothing you won't get over after the smile it puts on your face :D

Currently only have a Glock 29 as far as 10mm go :(

But as already stated, the 10mm Auto is like a .41mag. But in a Glock 29 you get 16 rounds of 10mm goodness in a sub-compact :p

Bar-sto is making a Sig P220 conversion which should be mighty cool.

Nice. I'm a 10mm fan too. My daily carry gun is a Glock 29. I love it. So small yet powerful.
