Oh snap! I've never had sushi either. I love cooking shows too. I hate being a fraud and watching all the food network shows.

Lobster is awesome. Crab is awesome. Shrimps are awesome. Snails are awesome.

I prefer a balanced meal, so I ideally would get some prime rib or amazing ribeye and some lobster claws or a whole dungeoness crab or two ... king crab is tasty, and better work/reward ratio, but dungeoness crab .. or Kona crab .. so friggin tasty ...

deviled eggs and potato salad are awesome.

I wont eat mayonnaise or ketchup.
I also wont drink milk.

I consider them the holy trinity of poisons.

Of course I'll eat ice cream or a milk shake, or even chocolate milk. White opaque things do not strike me as edible.

Take dried maize and boil the beezus muck out of it until every last trace of flavor is gone, slather in Shedd Spread. Enjoy.

Its got an interesting texture, Ive had grits in South Carolina with BBQ and they contributed to the overall greatness to the meal, just not so much in the flavor department as in the texture department...

Margarine enfused with extra water to allow it to spread when cold. The cheapest form of grease known to humanity.

So is that a food product or is it for some sort of topical treatment for a dermatological problem?

Grits are the ubiquitous starch element for southern cuisine here in the US. If you just cook instant grits and put margarine on them, you're doing it so wrong that it should be a crime.

I guess that's like $0.10 ramen noodles compared to proper noodles.

Yeah but what do grits actually taste like? Google tells me what they are, I want to know what they are like.

They taste like what you put on them. If you put nothing on them, you'll know what air tastes like if it had significant mass.

They're quite bland just by themselves. They have a slight corn taste to them, but it's very light. The texture is similar to cream of wheat / farina, but stickier.

Grits aren't meant to be eaten plain. You must add a bit of butter, bacon bits, salt/pepper, sometimes a little cheese.

Almost every time I've tried grits at a restaurant, they've been absolutely terrible. Overdone and they even smell bad. Make some Quaker (see what I did there?) instant grits at home and add some good stuff to it. It's sooo much better.

I think I'll skip that then.

Well, it's like mashed potatoes: if you just cook and mash them, they're barely edible. They provide a platform for other flavors and a textural component for dishes.

Starches gonna starch.
