Saab is out of money...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13886024

I did not realize they only sold 30,000 cars last year. They simply cannot sustain continued losses... especially now that GM no longer owns them. Apparently those losses were able to be absorbed by bigger GM... you know the GM with tons of cash.

Production has been halted... so good luck finding spare parts if you own a Saab now.

Good riddance, IMO. I've never found Saabs to be either good-looking or reliable.

Look for a big hole in jobs in Northern Indiana along I-65.

All U.S. production comes from three factories along that corridor.

Couldn't happen to nicer Republicans.

time to go abck to building jets I guess.

The Saab that makes jets haven't had anything to do with the Saab that makes cars for a long time now. Incidently, the Volvo that makes trucks also isn't associated with the Volvo that makes cars.

I thought the chinese were going to buy them out.

Saabs used to be very popular here in the Northeast, especially before GM took them over. I had a Saab 900 (now 9-3) that I bought new and ran for about fifteen years-could have gone longer but the repair costs were getting out of hand. Excellent, if somewhat idiosyncratic car-best dash layout I ever saw in a car(probably a design feature from their aviation days).

I kind of regret not getting a Saabaru 9-2x Aero when they were clearing them out for $5K off. But I didn't know how to drive stick well back then and they didn't let me test drive it. Mazda did though, and even though I stalled 4 times on the test drive, I liked and bought a Mazda3. But every now and then when I go to Tahoe and have to put on chains, I wish I got a Saabaru.

Care to link to an article about those plants? Of course you won't and you know why, don't you?

30k cars, geeze you know you should just eat a gun when mitsubishi is outselling you. Saabs are even more rare than suzukis, it seems.
