An Application on my Desktop WON'T delete!?

I right click and i hit delete and it sits and thinks for a minute then DONG this program is in use by another person or program. I don't have anyother programs running to close and i only have one user set up on this computer. I went in to task manager and closed down almost everything and the Darn thing just wont delete! Is there some way i can figure out what program is using this program that i'm trying to delete so that i can delete it?
 
It didn't show anything!? however i do really like the program i tried it on another issue i was have where i have to continually reboot and it fixed. Maybe because this is a dos Application?
 
Boot into Safe Mode and try to delete the file.

There may be a service or process attached to it.

Can you rename the file?

Er... oh yea... did you check task manager to processes to see if it was in use? (Processes, not Applications)
 
I did everything in task manager before i posted but regardless i just did safe mode and that would have taking care of anything as far as processes and apps but a no go. i just talked to my roommate (he's the one that put the program there) Its a Key generator! It didn't even work for him! He seem s to think it's pretty funny. I don't! Well i guess that these keygens are some sort of hack and i think it's a virus? Regardless, I wish it were gone. It's really starting to piss me off so. I have to study for a Chem. final but i really appreciate everyone?s help and I?ll be checking back later tonight to see if anyone came up with any ideas. thanx again!!!

Yeah you know the sound. It's the sound that pisses everyone off. You know you just install a new program your really excited to use and you hear "DONG" followed by some sort of system error. I have 7.1 THX so I can really get the full effect!!! :/
