I just ordered an MSI K7T266 PRO2-RU today and I just noticed it has an extra 12V connector on it (like a P4 board).
It's great to have extra power to the board, but what does it feed? Does it just add to the main 12V circuits or does it feed specific circuits like the fan headers etc.?
I let this question sit on the MB forum. The only response I got was this:
<< My understanding is that the little 4 pin 12 V connectors on AMD boards are specifically for AGP pro cards. My MSI K7 Master also has one. So I don't think you want to be sticking the P4 power supply connector into it, unless of course you're in a daring state of mind. >>
Is this right? The specs don't list an AGP pro slot (typically do) and don't show very well in the pic. It seems that if it is true, the AGP pro extended pins would be the only pins to recieve the extra power and not damage anything anyway.
The respondant could very well be right (if I knew I wouldn't ask). I'm just curious and have alot of fans, etc that could benefit from an extra 12V channel directly feeding one or more 12V traces.
Does anybody know for sure? Thanx for the help.
