Think this will get Congress/Obama to finally act on immigration policy?

Of course, DC is the primary target, and they predict some 300,000 people to die.

If it happens, I guess P&N can count on me not posting anymore.

I haven't watched the vid (at work), but I did hear the Taliban make a big threat against washington, saying the attack would be spectacular.

They could probably do it. It'd be easy, especially if they had more than one person trying to get across and were relentless with martyrs until they got their target. Probably easier to pull off than 9/11. How many illegal immigrants have made their way farther north than DC? How many did so, and now drive cars, have apartments, etc. No reason one couldn't put on a backback and go to DC and drop off some Anthrax.

I'd say it is a technology issue right now. They havent figured out a delivery system that will allow them to get it across the border without killing the transporter first.

I don't. Kill order on the borders, locked down tighter than a nun's you-know-what. Borders would ultimately remain open, but this run through with a bottle of water and hide in the bushes bullsh*t would be over forever.

BTW, I stopped watching after the "330,000 Americans in a single hour". This guy clearly has no idea what he's talking about and is really barely worth acknowledging. Anthrax doesn't kill nearly that fast, for one, and secondly, how is this guy going to disperse it over a city? It's all quite ridiculous.

He did? I didn't watch that far. I do know that most of northern africa is indeed supplied with water airlifted in from Lake Michigan, though. Most people don't realize that fact!

Let's discuss Anthrax a bit more.

The company I work for makes automated micro-biology devices that test for the presence of things such as Anthrax, and in fact we have a very small amount of anthrax on hand for testing purposes.

Anthrax can affect people in 3 ways - on the skin - most common form - can come from handling animals/waste that have the most common form of anthrax - gastro form - basically you've eaten the contaminant - inhaled form - breathed it in.

While anthrax 'in the wild' is someone common and easy to find - even for 'third world' terrorists - the know-how required to convert or produce a 'weaponized' version of Anthrax is far from common. The man thought to be responsible for the Anthrax attacks here in the US just so happened to be one of the people with that knowledge.

My guess is that, as Genx said (see we can agree on some things), it's a technical issue - the know-how and the technology is what they are lacking - not the will or the lack of people living among us.

As to 'what could 4 lbs of Anthrax do?' - it certainly couldn't kill 300,000 people. The most likely form of weaponized Anthrax would be the power type, put into the ventilation system of a crowded buildilng - but I would guess you would need a hell of a lot more than 4 lbs of the stuff - a guy walking down the street would do minimal damage, only infecting people he would literally walk into - and he'd need to have some sort of gas mask on to prevent himself from getting infected - although signs of infection from that form don't happen right away.

I think it's an interesting question. Let's say in the next 2-3 years a major attack takes place on US soil - 'suit-case' nuke, bio-weapon in a water supply - regardless of what it is - let's say we discover that the attackers entered the US through the Mexican border.

What happens then?

I'm already in favor of kicking people out of this country that aren't here legally - while I think there needs to be some 'human' intervention on such things - such as someone made a typo on some paperwork or something - for the most part I'd be fine with deporting people out of the country that aren't here legally. How do you stop more people from coming in?

Would we literally build a wall along our southern border, and heavily arm any 'break points'? Would you be ok with using our military forces, on our own soil, as part of this process?

What if they came in from Canada? Throw the wall possibility out the window of course - what would the reaction be to that?

Well, in the text it was followed by (sic)....so perhaps it was a oopsie. North Africa could have meant North America. There are 3 plants in Michigan.

I need to clarify my first post. I think the threat described in *this* video is overblown.

However, the porous border does pose a very real problem: that of terrorists sneaking in.

The unfortunate reality is that just about anyone can buy a bunch of handguns and can threaten civilian centers. What's to prevent a 11/26 Mumbai style attack, on a grander scale?
