An absurd question for some but...

which is the faster cpu
t bird 1.4/266 or an xp 1500+
if so what is the rough difference in % between them.

It depends on your application. For media encoding, the XP is probably faster. Games, it's probably a 50/50 split. Other stuff, well it just depends on if the programs utilize SSE and the other features incorporated into the XP. IMHO, the XP is better simply because most of the time the performance difference, for better or worse, is negligable; however the lower heat and better packaging will likely make the XP less prone to disaster.
