AMR modem?

I need a cheap *working* solution 4 my spare PC, anyone ever use one? Epox sells the EP-S56MR for $25, which will work with my 7KXA, any opinions? I got lots of RAM & CPU 2 spare...

You could pick up a Lucent LT based PCI modem for cheaper than that...

But then again I'm sure Modus will be here any second to recommend that.

Saw some Lucent chipset PCI/SW modems for ~$10. Are the Lucent ones better than say the cheap Motorola, etc ones?

Of course the advantage of an ARM modem is it would take up an otherwise useless slot on the board. But if PCI slots aren't at a premium, then PCI would probably be best. i have never used an ARM slot, I would be curious if it had disadvantages.

I have had good luck w/ either Lucent or ESS chipsets (the latter constantly connects at
49,333 + for my nephew)...
...and the Motorola chipset (from my experience) IS suck 🙂

I thought PCtel chips were the worst...now you say Motorola...man.
LOL

Actually, Lucent of Conexant are very good...
No experience with ESS...
