Amperage draw on a 7800GTX

manimal

Lifer
Greetings chaps-

I tried to search on AT for the power draw of a 7800gtx 256 and the search is broken for me for some reason today, My google fu seems weak today as well since my search hits are all weak sauce reviews that dont list the side of the darn box......

Second Question:

What kind of OC have any of you gotten on the 7800GTXKO from evga? Id love to clock the crap out of my new cheapo card.

Thx in advance:

the card is a good performance breaker over the 6800 series, so don't call it cheapo card, I hate that. it whooped the x850 series like ice water when it first came out.

don't bother getting a 3rd party cooler 'cuz it's not worth it.

KO usually indicates the card is factory overclocked.

XFX 7800GT's overheat, they're factory overclocked, many had to underclock to prevent constant system crashes.

after putting all of this together, I'd say leave it at stock and stop fussing about how good it feels to go from a Radeon 9500 (j/k) to a 7800GT.

gg

my evga 7800gt doesn't overclock at all. original poster is correct, many evga factory overclocked 7800gtx's were clocked too high, causing instability. don't count on the card being able to overclock well. however, DEFINITELY get a 3rd party cooler if you don't like noise. it was by far the loudest part in my system when i first bought it.
