Does anyone know roughly how much data gets exchanged with the game server for say an hour of gameplay? I'm using my university network and I don't particularly want to hog the connection and get a nasty email from them threathening disconnection.

Don't worry about it. They are more worried about P2P file sharers and stuff.

And if you aren't doing anything illegal, they won't have grounds to disconnect you.

If you are really worried, track down the network admin at the school and ask him/her personally if it'll be a problem.

I haven't tested World of Warcraft, but I did test Final Fantasy XI back when I was playing it. I wouldn't guess that World of Warcraft is much different.

After some 6 straight hours of gameplay, mostly in parties in heavy traffic zones, my average transfer speed over my ethernet connection was around 7KB/s. That was taken while using Comcast at 4mbps.

I've monitored it from time to time. Almost never goes over 50kbps down and 30kbps up.

Kilobits, of course. That's why I used the lower case.

kbps= kilobits per second

KBps= kilobytes per second
