Ammo prices going up??

spacejamz

Lifer
was at Academy today and in talking the guy behind the gun counter, he told me that ammo prices were going up because brass and copper supplies were being 'hoarded' up by India and China...

he said they were probably gonna up again soon...

price of box of 50 rounds of 9mm CCI Blazer are now $4.86 (they were $3.86 in January)...

prices for CCI Blazer .40 were just under $10 for a box of 50....

anyone else hear or notice this??...wonder if I should start stocking up...

I also heard that the China and India demand is what I heard is driving up prices. I don't see the prices going down anytime soon, so if you need ammo, then you might as well buy it now.

I noticed the prices have gone up last time I was at Gander mountain. Gonna have to hoard up on some ammo I guess, then I can get called a Gun wacko for haveing so much ammo. 🙂

Surplus and new Russian production ammo has been on quite the rise as well lateley.

I used to be able to snag Wolf 7.62x39 for about $100-$110 per 1K. Now a box of 500 runs $75-$85.

I guess the lesson is to buy as much as humanly possible when you find good cheap ammo than you will use ($8 50-round boxes of South African .303 haunt my dreams).

Buy it cheap, stack it deep.

So YOU'RE the one driving up prices on my SKS ammo. You AK-47 owners are sooo selfish. Get a longer barrel ya sissy 😀

Hey, I only have one AK (well two if you count the Galil)........but I do have five SKSs. 😀

The real reason 7.62x39 is going up in price is the U.S. Gov bought as much as they could get ahold of to supply the Iraqi army. There are talk now that they are trying to get the Russian manufacturers to fill an order of 60-70 million rounds to send to the Afgan army.

Oh no!!

Now families will be forced to decide between buying necessary ammo or putting food on the family table.

First there was rising prescription costs. Then rising gas prices. But God help us now-- rising ammo prices????

I couldn't believe how much 7.62x39 went up, it's nuts. I don't really shoot my SKS anymore, so I didn't notice the price increase until recently. Occasionally you can get decent deals at Cabelas if you go to the retail store, but that's not feasible for everyone.

Dad and I reload everything else we shoot, but even components are going up in price. Primers are up 50% I think.

Haven't you guys noticed, as of late, the price of EVERY THING has GONE UP!

Yes, but those products didn't disappear (out of stock) like some calibers of ammo did fro a while a few months ago.

You should have seen people freaking out on the various gun forums.

Of course. Given you can't hit garbage dumpster from 100 meters with an AK, this keeps the U.S military with and edge with their M-16's.

Do like I do, collect pennies and make your own. I've got over 50,000 rounds ready for the bird flu pandemic. I plan to have 100,000 ready by the time the Chinese invade.

Solution, buy brass by the 1k as well as bullets/primers and buy powder by the keg 😉

Then get real serious with a 550B from http://dillonprecision.com/default.cfm? (cookie free site)

I have a 650 here with a case feeder. 41Mag, 45APC & 9mm can be loaded at over 600 rounds per hour.
Long cases are not reloaded at this time.

The last brick of 22s I bought was too long ago. A CZ 22 rifle has my attention and it will be fed the
sub-sonic Mexican ammo. It's about air rifle loud. 😀

...Galvanized

It's a great time to be in recycling. Copper. Brass. Aluminum. Steel. It's all going through the roof. Hell, plastic is going up like crazy, too (but that's because of oil prices). I'm waiting for PC cases to return to all-steel construction - the steel is cheaper than the plastic, now, and I'm sure that by polishing it and making it shiny, they can pass it off as "improved aesthetics".

I've had teflon hollow points in my glock since 91. Are they illegal for me to have now? I heard they stopped selling them but not sure about whether I was supposed to keep them. Pardon my ignorance, but do bullets go bad? 😕
