Ammo Name Difference

I'm going to pick up my first gun, a CZ-85 on Monday. I've heard it's ammo listed as 9mm Luger and 9mm Parabellum. What's the difference in the two names? Are they interchangable?

9mm Luger = 9mm Parabellum = 9x19mm

same calliber. Luber is german. One will hold more powder than the other, I believe. I'd have to look it up. It's just a brand thing with minor performance differences. Google should let you know more.

Para bellum is just a nickname for the 9x19mm aka 9mm luger.

si vis pacem, para bellum (sp might be off i forget)

== if you want peace, prepare for war. old latin phrase.

9mm Parabellum and 9mm Luger are the same, 9mm Kurz is a shorter cartridge. It's never called that in English though, here it's the .380
