"A basic membership [to lounges] ranges from $375 for US Airways to $500 for United Airlines. "

"US Airways also offers access to Star Alliance lounges, but it costs an additional $220. For $120, US Airways members can add on access to United's Red Carpet Club."

"If you use an American Express Platinum card, you can get in the Continental's Presidents Club, Delta's Crown Room Club and Northwest's WorldClubs. The Diners Club card also grants access to lounges around the world."

I never knew you can buy membership to the lounges. Thought they were only for the Gold/Elite class frequent flyer and business class ticket holders.

This would be great for a frequent flyer that travels in coach, no?

Sounds interesting. Lounges in airports don't seem that important to me... but MAN I wished for a lounge when I traveled Europe by train this summer.

Yeah, I've done it plenty of times before with Delta and Continental using an Amex Platinum. As long as you have tickets with that airline on that day, just show your card and you're good to go.

Back in the day it might have seemed nice to go into a lounge.... but with all the nice restaurant in the aiirport anymore it's pointless.

BTW, AMEX Platinum Business Cash Rebate Card has no fee. Plus, if you can get the premium card, the cash back is great.

Does that site have details on the 5% cash back? I can't find anything other than that it says "up to 5%" which means in most cases less than 5% cash back, and I'd like to know what those cases are. :)

i don't think this qualifies assuming that the Amex platinum that they refer to is the annual fee charge card. i think it's $325 per month.

So, you're filling out the app for the Business Platinum Card, what are you going to put in the Legal business name field, years of operation field, type of industry field, and last but not least, the Federal Tax ID field?
