the black card is supposed to be super exclusive, must be an existing Platinum card holder who spends at least $20,000 a month (!) on their card to get an invite

ahhh.. so that's how you get one....

i dont think the $65 yearly fee would phase those people

Well, Platinum cards have a $400 annual fee, so I can only imagine that Centurion's are higher.

It hasn't. People were grandfathered at the $1000 rate when it first began. When I got it (Dec. 2003) and what it is currently, they are now charging $2500.

i like amex. unfortunately you don't have much choice when you're first starting out. i'd get any student cards offered by citibank, discover, or the amex blue. i think citibank has a student of the dividend plus? go find out.

I have a Amex green for personal use, and an Amex Gold and one of their new Platinum Rebate cards for my business. Should I cancel the gold and stick with the Platinum rebate?
