should I get it??

what are u talking about? amex is sweet, i got 4700 credit line at 18, first CC, well that and my citi div with 55k creditline but thats linked to my dads acct, also i have cred score of 770

EDIT: sorry I meant 4700 not 4700k 🙂

too many credit cards can be bad i think. i think only 3 or so is enough. one is the citi dividend for gas/grocery, and a blue cash for electronic purchases. maybe a visa or even discover since sometimes they have specific benefits/coupons.

$4,700,000 Credit Line?

To say nothing about the $55,000 Credit Line.

I am very impressed.

The 55k is obviously an "AU" card, he's an authorized user on his dad's Citi. AMEX is a prime bank. If you got a pre-approval offer from them, it is real. They VERY rarely send out pre-approvals. Some people with excellent credit get turned down by AMEX. They don't take just anyone.

so should I take it?

get the green, then later get the Gold Amex

I have read where a Gold Amex in good standing is as good on your credit as a mortgage.

if thats true, i'm in a good position. 🙂

amex is good,

you should call your other credit cards every 6 months and ask to have your limit raised, that will improve your credit too

Definatly take it. Then you can shop at Neiman Marcus. They only Take AMEX, Dinners Club, and their store card. In the way of credit cards that is.

you will get more and more. now, only apply to the one that you want to have or to the one that give you good incentive. any credit card offer with $50 incentive will get me. american green is not worth it, wait for the gold reward one. the first year fee will be waived.

i love returning those "pre-approved" things to companies and then getting letters back saying they changed their minds. quality stuff🙂

another reason why I want one so bad. it's because it just so classic (every dad has one); but the annual fee is really a let-down. no way I would pay that amount (or any) for a CC. i am happy with the Blue.

my amex gold has a $130 annual fee, but from BVG, i can easily get that money back. free shipping at certain stores saves money too.

in high school I used work as a telemarketer, signing up Amex green/gold/platinum members up for the then-new Blue card. Blue is a credit card, with revolving balance and no annual fee. green/gold/platinum/centurion(black) are charge cards, with annual fees and must be paid off every month

the black card is supposed to be super exclusive, must be an existing Platinum card holder who spends at least $20,000 a month (!) on their card to get an invite
