4 The Buyer's Assurance Plan coverage is limited to eligible products costing $10,000 or less, excluding taxes, up to $50,000 per Cardmember account per policy year. Underwritten by AMEX Assurance Company, Administrative Office, Green Bay, WI. Coverage is subject to the terms, conditions, and exclusions of Policy AX0953.
&
5 The Purchase Protection Plan covers items purchased with the Card for 90 days from the date of purchase, up to $1,000 per occurrence, $50,000 per Cardmember per policy year, in excess of other applicable insurance. For more details or to file a claim, call 1-800-322-1277. Underwritten by AMEX Assurance Company, Administrative Office, Green Bay, WI. Coverage is subject to the terms, conditions, and exclusions of Policy AX0951.

This is taken from the Amex web page under the "Benefits" section. Of course, other cards got something similar to this but this is also pretty good.

With the buyers assurance plan, we can buy OEM processors and parts with usually 15 to 30 day warranty and extend this for another year!
The purchase protection plan seems to cover items in case they stolen or are accidentally broken... Milage may vary with this one....

Plus, possibably the best: Return Protection: Return Protection lets you return a covered item purchased with the Card [ even if you purchased it online ] when the merchant won't take it back. Just contact us within 90 days of the purchase, and you will be reimbursed for the full purchase price, up to $300 per covered item.
2 Return Protection offers you guaranteed product satisfaction on designated items purchased entirely with an eligible Card. Returns must be within 90 days of purchase. Refunds are for up to $300 per item, with a maximum of $1,000 annually per Cardmember account. For more details or to file a claim, call 1-800-297-8019. Any item purchased from a store that has an established return/satisfaction guarantee program greater than or equal to the terms of Return Protection, and provides coverage for your request for a refund, will not be covered under Return Protection. Cardmembers will be asked to send their original store receipt and the record of charge or any other itmes deemed reasonably necessary to process the request for a refund within 30 days. Coverage is subject to certain terms, conditions, and exclusions.

This is kinda like a try after you buy deal. Seems like you can purchase something, use it for up to 90 days, and return it. Of course, it is subject to the sellers' return policy, so you may or may not be able to return it. If you are able to return it, you'll be hit with the sellers' refund charge (normally 15 - 20%) but if you aren't able to return it, you can possibably return the items free of charge! Of course, I don't know the exact specifics so it's a good idea to call and verify certain items before doing this!

I have no idea what you're saying here. Are you asking if these programs are going to be cancelled, if they exist on Blue, if they work, or what?

OOps. I gotta edit the title. The Blue pricematch is gone (BVG) or best value guarantee.

Because many have these cards (because of BVG) and the program was ending, I was hopping there were other useful uses for the card.

I'm just suggesting the above as other uses....

I've always thought that the extended warranty program only doubles what the manufacturer gives you (up to one year)

so if you get 90 days from the manufacturer then you get 90 days extention from AMEX... but if you get 5 year warranty from the manufacturer then AMEX will give you 1 additional year after that 5 year period is over

I think w3b is right.

But be careful!! Certain items are excluded from this policy. For example, I purchased a weedeater a little more than a year ago (it had a 1 year warrnaty) and it just recently broke. SO I called American Express and it turns out they dont extend warranties on weedeaters along with many other things. So dont think they extend the warranty on EVERTHING you buy.
