i ate horsemeat while in italy. very tasty. The koreans eat dogs. what is the point?

Hindus don't eat beef because they believe cows are sacred. Maybe we should pass a law to stop people from eating beef to appease the hindus? or stop eating pork to appease the muslims?

I thought it was because eating beef to them was equivalent to cannibalism.

Horses are not a native species. They have only been around for the past couple of centuries, since the Spanish conquistador explored the Americas.

roger that. just because we don't do eat horses doesnt mean that other cultures shouldnt
i'm guessing horose meat is probably similar to other meats that we eat anyway. deer/beef.

The people of the U.S. have a right to pass laws that they see fit. I don't think killing of horses for meat production should be allowed.

And I don't give 2 sh|ts what Japanese people think.

We were about 90 miles north of Reno a month ago riding our quads. We saw the bones of two different horses that had been shot in the head. You could see the bullet holes in their skulls.

Don't understand the protectionist fury. It's not like the horse is endangered or anywhere close. It's not like the horse is a native species like the bald eagle. So I don't understand why "They have to be free" sentiment.

'"This was their land before we came here," Obregon said months later. "They were here a long time before us. The only reason they came down here was ? for the grass. They came down from the mountain snows. I wouldn't want to eat sagebrush and all that stuff, either."'

Such stupidity, it's no wonder nobody respects highschool students anymore.

Well it's not native so what does it matter if the wild herds go away? The open range of the west is almost completely gone and the horses that range in Nevada and Montana have been genetically corrupted by years of removing the best horses from the herds. The mustangs of today are mongrols that have disease and genetic problems galore.

bears are related to wolves

horses are related to gazelles, deer and cattle

at least that is what I see when looking at the head and body structure

maybe we should outlaw deer hunting as well because horses and deer are related?

Actually, mustangs are among the hardiest of horses - you have to feed them carefully because they have a tendency to get fat (their bodies are used to subsisting on very little) but when they're tamed they're very good horses.

There are several breeds of mustangs, actually (I want a Kiger!!) and they really awesome pets. Mustangs have become part of some native american cultures and America's history, as well as having evolved to their own distinct breeds. I think it would be a shame to erase that.

If horses are going to be eaten, I think they should be bred for it, same as cattle are, instead of buying people's old pets at auction or the wild horses. Wouldn't wild horses be awfully stringy anyway?
