Who the hell appointed the Dallas Cowboy's, "America's Team"!?!?!

I always remembered them being called that occasionally, but after Romo took over that is all I hear about and I honestly don't understand it.

It's been that way forever. Big D is just the team of all teams, get used to it. GO DALLAS.

I would say that the Patriots would be more deserving if going by mascot, and if going by location the Redskins (Washington...Nations Capital) would be more deserving.

(Note: This does not in anyway suggest that the other teams are bad. I would be more than happy to see the term "America's Team go away all together.)

It's stupid. No team should be called 'America's Team".

Oh, in answer to your question i think the media is the villian.

Ah very true. Damn them >_<

But I agree, I personally hate the term seeing as everyone in America has his/her preference of teams. I highly doubt the Cowboy's have the largest fan-base. ESPECIALLY after they signed TO (<-What a unethical jerk!)

Dallas has a HUUUUGEE fanbase, don't think for a second T.O could ruin it. Hes a jackass, I don't like him, no one does. He WILL NOT be back next year. He leads the league in dropped passes and is an asshat all the time. Why would anyone want him on their team? This is why he wont be back. Dallas should have kept keyshawn and TO should die

And judging by his previous actions, it might not be all that far fetched as some may think haha

If Dallas wins the superbowl (I hope so!), I hope they trade T.O for some good young WRs (I love Andre Johnson - STUD; HOU will probably never trade him). Or maybe trade TO for some draft picks and get Jarrett or Calvin Johnson! :) :)

BINGO! I would love to see the cowboys pick up Calvin Johnson, i have seen him play twice in person, he is GREAT. Although its pretty slim chances of picking him up

-The Cowboys are called America's team because they have the biggest fan base. By far. Sure, they're probably the most hated too, but they definitely have the most fans.
-Signing TO didn't affect their fanbase. Why would it? By the way, you call him "unethical" - T.O. might be an asshole, but he is far far more ethical than many NFL players that get caught with drugs, steroids, breaking the law, etc.
-apex, I don't think T.O. will be gone next year. Jerry Jones loves him and the attention he brings the team. Plus, while he led the league in drops (with a detatched tendon in his finger & a broken hand in week 2), he also had 13 TDs (1st in the league), 85 receptions (18 20 yards or more), and 1180 yards. I highly doubt he'd going anywhere. If anything, Parcells/Zimmer could be gone, pending how the postseason goes.

I disagree. I also feel it would be a huge mistake to get rid of him. No, he hasn't had his best season, but who else do we have? Start Sam Hurd? That ain't gonna work. Next year, build up the offensive line, give Romo the offseason to mature & training camp to build rapport with Owens, things will be good.

Haha, I remember how so many people saw it fitting that they won the first Super Bowl after 9/11.

The phrase was coined in the Tom Landry/Roger Staubach era.

Make a little more sense now?

No way. The Atlanta Braves are America's Team.

Ted Turner says so.
