Americans are spoiled!

I'm sorry, but Americans have become lazy, spoiled, and therefore demand instant gratification. I'm sorry that people don't understand the magnitude of this relief effort and how complex it is to mobilize and organize such that it is effective. I don't feel sorry for those who should have gotten out of Dodge in the first place and are now unwilling to wait more than 30 seconds for their "golden relief egg" to pop out of the microwave that they bought on credit because they were unwilling to delay gratification and save for it.

I don't think the Greatest Generation would have acted this way. Instead of waiting for Big Brother to help, they would have sucked it up, rolled up their sleeves, pulled up their boot straps, come together as a community, and instead of looting, would have developed a sane distribution system of food and supplies.

This is going to take lots of planning and time, and I think America needs to have patience. Instant gratification no more.

While i agree with some of your points, you seem to be ignoring the fact that many of these people don't own cars, nor could afford transportation out.

these are people that are dying, stop with your agenda:disgust:

1) i think someone hit the nail on the head when they said the people who are capable of maintaining composure in such a situation are NOT the ones that are stranded & stuck there (NO).

2) the resources required to adequately deal with this situation are... elsewhere. i am extremely supportive of the forces & people that ARE there to assist, but one would think that the powers that be are being stretched a little thin to say the least.

barring these two things, i think that there would be "instant gratification", to an extent. there are definitive reasons why this is happening the way it is.

He does have a point - there are some people helping others (I caught a clip on the news last night - two 'refugee' guys were pulling a boat with some elderly people to evac areas; one said he planned to be there - helping - for a long time)..and some that are obviously in halfway decent shape (fit enough to be grabbing/raping people) - WTF are they doing that instead of helping their own people?

I used this example yesterday. When was the last time you planned a get-together with 20 or so of your friends? How long did that tiny event take to organize? You had to find out when people were available, where they lived, decide on some place central, set a convenient time, and make sure the whole thing didn't get too expensive, etc.

Now, multiply this little get-together by a factor of 10,000. Do you honestly think planning for such a thing can happen over night? I'm impressed they can get anything organized in a week!
