Could it be that the threat of too many people listening to too much music, reading too much poetry and staring at too many paintings is behind the vast and unconscionably expensive machinery of America's legislative antagonism to marijuana? Do objections to films with subtitles and avant-garde jazz and contemporary opera carry so much weight? I wonder. America's reasoning is not always entirely clear. In case you hadn't noticed.

OOOO thats good

Simple fact that should cast some doubt on the "drug war"...it's easier for me, as a minor in my state (21), to get marijuana than alcohol. Could it possibly get any "worse"?

As long as there is ignorance, our laws won't change for the better or more reasonable.
And people who are opposed to marijuana are more vocal than those who advocate its decriminalization and those who simply don't care.
And any politician who is asked about their stand on marijuana and who answers "for" or "neutral" will be labled soft on drugs.

For some reason in America we forbid certain things rather than hold people accountable for their actions. That solves nothing and is ignorant.

I definitely think that as long as alcohol is legal for adults 21 and over, then marijuana should be also. I've personally seen many more lives ruined over booze than pot.

I wonder what will happen if they do legalize it. It'll most likey happen, its pratically legal. Anyone under 18 IMHO shouldn't do it period. As too many teenagers, (Like me, but I stopped) use it to releave stress only to become clean and their problems still exsist.

Thought I'd mention a few facts about the Canadian situation as it stands now. Marijuana is legal for those with an exception for medicial reasons, but there is still no legal supply. The Supreme Court of Canada rules over a year ago that if the government didn't come up with a rational marijuana law, the present law would no longer be in effect after one year. The year has come and gone. The Senate has come out with a report stating that marijuana should be legal for anyone over 16 years of age. The House has come out with its report recommending decriminalization of less than 30oz, with fines ranging from $100-$500, and cultivation of one plant (I believe).

Recently, lower courts have thrown out two marijuana cases based on the fact that Canada doesn't really have a marijuana prohibition law at the moment. The government is once again saying it will take action, but hasn't. Really, I'd prefer the gov't do nothing and let the courts toss the cases out until the cops are too tired of bothering to bring pot smokers into court. Now why that route?

Because if Canada legalizes pot, the US has made it clear it will retailiate but slowing down trade into the United States. Drug Czar John Walters regulary makes trips up to Canada to stress this (and to tell us how his father was a Canadian). Here is one his visits from PotTV (I have more):

Those guys at the end of the video should have gotten him stoned, then he'd never go back eh? Maybe he'd head off to Amsterdam. Sorry, wishful thinking :D
