k,
Here?s the deal. My cousin and her husband are both living in Oman (smak dab in the middle of the Middle East!) working for an American oil company. They live with many Brits and Americans who are telling them that there is nothing to worry about. They say they have seen all this before (Gulf War, Desert Strike, etc?) and everything will blow over. I do not agree. I see this conflict very easily boiling over into WWIII. I also see any Americans in the Middle East as easy targets. Be it for assassinations or kidnappings for ransom and/or bargaining tools. They live in the Arab community and do not have any extra levels or security or protection from outside threats. I?m trying to convince them to come to Europe but they don?t want to leave because of pressure to stay from coworkers in Oman.

Opinions?

Would you want relatives to leave the Middle East ASAP or let them risk it?

Heck ya there are Bin Laden sympathizers all over the MiddleEast and South Asia (pakistan and maybe 2 in India)

If they think they are safe I'd say they are fooling themselves.

There are Bin laden sympathizers in the U.S. too. But guess what, 2 months ago when Bin Ladens men tried to attack the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, it wasn't U.S. soldiers that were able to stop them, but New Delhi police. They cordoned off the entire area and promptly arrested the men. So don't put that sh.it on India. India has witnessed Islamic terrorism to the likes of which you cannot even imagine.

Edit:

Daemon: I would highly advise them to leave as well.. just my .02.

Thanks for all the comments...
I'm going to email them this thread in the morning to help convince them to leave soon! I think I have started to change their minds about staying. Hopefully it will work.
Thanks,

that doesnt change the FACT that there are bin Laden sympathizers in India, which is what he said, and youthen promptly said the same thing, your argument is very confusing....

edit: and this is NOT another desert storm, this is going to be much bigger. *I* wouldnt want to be in Oman.

Dhruv,

that is why I said "2" in India as in they probably have few. that was a joke As I would think Indians would not tolerate any taleban/bin laden BS as you stated they caught two dudes there I appluad that.
I am not Dumping on India as i was just trying to put in prospective where in the world we are talking about.

I am glad that India and Pakistan have not Nuked each other by now though it seemed for awhile that you all might just do that. but that is another ball of wax.
