I've watched this movie countless amounts of time and I still don't understand it. I can't even explain how I think it is because it just contradicts itself. I also read the book and I don't understand the book either. I understand he loses his mind because he can kill with impunity and maybe consequences are what he desires but is how no one knows his real name (or what he thinks is his name) aid to the madness? What about killing Paul Allan? At the end Karnes says he had dinner with him twice ten days ago. Is everyone on Wall Street nameless and with each other's names that everyone thinks someone is someone else? Or, the most likely scenario, is this entire film an illusion of his?
This is a strange but fantastic film even when I don't understand it.
