I didn't see any posts about this so here it is, its a few days old but this is how some of our fellow citizens are acting in foreign countries. Im shocked he didn't get his ass kicked though, he was the only non Korean on the entire bus and the Koreans for the most part were completely passive.

"On a crowded South Korean bus, a fight broke out between a black American man and an older Korean. It’s reported that the elderly man was trying to be considerate, but the word he pronounced sounded like, ‘awesome dude,’ and the black man took offense. What’s most surprising is that the American is an English teacher. "

An American shamed his country. Not the first, nor the last. Sad story.

Apparently this idiot was in a foreign country and didn't know the language very well and flew off the handle like an ignorant jackass when he heard the old dude pronounce the word "neaga".

Naega = I, me

If you are going to visit or live in a country for an extended period of time have the fucking common courtesy to learn the god damn language spoken there for fucks sake. The same rule applies to people coming over to the US.

Yea its hard to believe, you need a B.A. to be a English teacher in Korea, somehow he got one.

that may be for public school, but there are plenty of contracting firms that hire these foreign dirtbags for as little as they can then pair them with young children all day.

Ugly American, and I am not talking about the look. What a dumb fuck.

I could not agree more with this comment from the link.

Complete bs, I want to go to S. Korea heck I want to live there and I am an African-American female. I am angered by your comment. "Naega = I", are you telling me he had the ignorant assumption to go to a foreign country and not learn at least customs or some language. F**k Korean is so much easier to learn that Japanese or Chinese. Let's be serious, he assaulted someone. Even if that man had said something racially provocative, he assaulted somebody.
I just want to say to thanks for fucking it up for the rest of us. I've seen S.Koreans do blackface and have a negative outlook on blacks. But now they have proof in their own country. Makes my future life that much harder. <Unquote>

Yea thats a good comment. Hard to find them on that site though, the comments are mostly all racist statements about black people [Asians are making them to on there]. The way he acted only gave ammo to the people in Korea who already dont like black people, and they are running with it. Its already hard for a black person [compared to a white] to get a good job over there, since most Koreans view Africans/Black people as uncivilized. And the way he acted only enforces that perception.

My daughter was an "English teacher" in Korea for two years. Basically that doesn't mean the guy had any educational background, just that he has a four year degree from a US college and a clean crimminal background. In today's economy, if you have an adventersome soul and like working with kids, it's a far better job than working the counter at CVS.

Sounds like this guy flipped out-I suspect he is already fired and on his way back now. Probably some sort of overlay problems, like homesick, girlfriend problems, etc. I have talked to American blacks who have lived over there and complained about racism though.

There's no excuse for attacking an old man and his wife. No decent person would try to excuse such behavior. Trying to blame it on racism is even more pathetic.

Not making excuses for him, just pointing out he almost certainly has no educational background and certainly is not in a union.

As far as racism, nearly everyone I know (white or black) who has lived in Japan, China or Korea has noticed it-it is very prevalent there to think the local "race" is the superior one and all others inferior. Heck a Japanese in Korea experiences it and vice versa. Not using it as an excuse, just as a condition there which may have contributed to his inexcuseable flipping out.

This is very true. And while racism doesn't justify his actions, who is to say that the Koreans on the bus did not harass him prior to the cameras coming on ? Korea as a country is a known hot bed of racism towards African-Americans and other Black people.

Its definitely possible that he was a victim here and was "taunted" into acting out, and once he "Acted" out it would be filmed and used as racist propaganda towards Black people. This scenario is extremely likely.

I was in Korea about 12 years ago for 4-5 weeks and they are nicest cleanest most organized people you'll ever see. One time I was in a grocery and checker accidentally rang up item twice, I noticed and she apologized profusely and paid for it out of her own pocket, a couple bags of groceries, all of it. It was no biggie to me, shit happens but she insisted! Point is you'd have to be REAL SCUM to get in a Koreans face or assault them.

Good for you, are you Black though ? Its well known that Koreans kiss white people's ass since they see them as money bags. It makes a difference when the person is black since Koreans think the opposite of people of African descent, and think Black people are prone to violence and theft etc.

:D Glad to know it's not just white folk showing their asses in foreign countries.

Although in his defense, Hollywood has taught us that all Asians are black belts just waiting to take on rooms full of fighters. Especially old Asian men.
