I heard on the news that the hijackers took judo lessons or something of that sort, but I doubt they needed to use it because I bet everyone sat back and enjoyed the ride thinking about how much money they can sue the airline for.
Several non-American airlines have been hijacked since 9/11. Not once did I hear the passengers trying to do something.
Exactly. Even still, what if some of the hijackers had the box cutters to some little girls' throats. Are you gonna try and take down them down and get the girls killed when you don't KNOW if they are trying to avoid casualites or not?

I agree with your conclusion. However, I'm sorry to spoil your plans by stating that I disagree with your reason for your conclusion. Your example of proof that they're "pussified" is weak. I think you're mixing instinctive behaviour with carefully plotted responses, even if it involves destruction. Thus, I ask: What exactly is your criteria for proof of strength/maleness?

I think the Germans, even today, would stand as the most feared. Analytical, cool-headed, born warriors. Israeli soldiers must be way up there too, followed closely by the Americans and Brits. Everyone laughs at America (the nation)'s spirit, but they ain't all high-tech gadgetry. The US has earned their stripes in blood.

OK, I'm having the batch of Coca-Cola I'm currently drinking teste for mind-altering substances. This is the second time I have agreed with luvly tonight. (Just yankin' your chain kid, it's what I do. That and using words like "kid" because I have watched too many Bogart films.)
The "American male" has indeed begun a process of departure from the traditional Western masculine cultural role. However, as luvly has pointed out, the criterion that you are using here is seriously flawed unless you are defining "masculine" behaviour as involving all action and no thought. Overall I would go so far as to say that it is a moot point though since gender roles are almost entirely cultural and even though there is some consistency among cultures (i.e. the persistant but unfounded idea that men should be in charge) the simple fact is that gender behaviour patterns are culturally determined and therefore cannot be considered to be anything other than a convention which is subject to change just as all conventions are.

No one wants to get involved.
Even witnesses to auto wrecks and muggings won't use a cell phone to report it.
I have been in situations where I thought I'd have backup and opened my mouth. Next thing I know is I am one in the middle of many...fortunately I have talked my way out of such situations.
In theory, on a plane you shouldn't do anything technically...although that's due to bullets causing problems with pressurized cabins...if boxcutters and 5-6 guys I don't know if I'd try to take that on or not without being there. Knowing my luck I'd get the first guy or two down and then get hit with a carotid artery slice while 150 others stand watching me bleed out. Such is life though.
