MLB awards is a joke. Each writer makes up their own rules. The only reason Matsui didn't win rookie of the year is because several writer left him off the ballot altogether, claiming he was no rookie, despite the rules clearly stating otherwise. I wonder where those clowns were when they voted Ichuro over Giambi, even though Jason had better altogether stats and was the only reason A's had any offense that year.

Bottom line - those awards are nothing but a popularity contest.

I voted for David Ortiz. Not only did he have a productive year for the BoSox, he also meant a lot in the clubhouse. He's a big reason why the BoSox did well this year.
