American Idol

Why does anyone like American Idol? What's so great about it? I've watched a few episodes and I thought it really sucked.

In my opinion, nothing. Unless you were actually involved as one of the contestants. Not that fun to watch though.

That's not always the case.... in fact, its hardly ever the case. We "hate" on American Idol because it sucks, not because its popular.

What few times I have seen it, didn't really enjoy it, or see the draw to it, not for me either. Only thing remotely amusing is Simon being his normal bastard self.

I watch american idol's beginning auditions, because some people are so ignorant it's hilarious. so many people suck at singing, but when they get voted off, they say "oh simon, I'm gonna show you, you little ******. i'm gonna be the best singer evar!!!111!"

Obviously the general consensus is that it's great because so many people like it, so it doesn't suck according to the majority. In other words yes, you do hate it because it's popular.

QFT. I have known one of the live finalists (the oh-so-beloved Brenna, lol) for about 8 years, and it was pretty fun to see her on the screen, mostly because she wasn't acting all goody-two-shoes. Other than that, between baffling song choices and the retarded judge comments, it's very forgettable TV.

In case nobody's kept up, Taylor "the 50-year-old-looking 29-year old" Hicks and Katherine "I weigh a little less every week" McPhee are YOUR American Idols.

Many people like it because many people are idiots who will watch what people tell them to watch.

Fixed. The assumption that one's reason for liking/disliking is always based on whether they are in the majority or minority is flawed at the core.

Just because lots of people like it and I don't doesn't mean I don't like it BECAUSE its popular. I hate it AND its popular.

Obviously, I hate it because the show isn't good, and I can't stand Simon, nor can I stand the idea that the show calls people with musical talents "idols" when there are other people who are much more deserving of the title. So, no, I don't hate it because its popular.

In society, majority rules. Live with it or get ran over.
