American Idol Style Voting Question [?]

For shows that count votes by text that allow multiple entries...

Is there anything stopping someone from writing a simple script that repeatedly spams an entry?

It would seem pretty easy considering you can even send texts via e-mail.

Set up a simple python script that just sends an email with "VOTE" every 1ms... Wouldn't that completely fuck the actual ratings?

ATT & Idol limit the number of votes counted per number. The limit is often the number of contestants on that episode. If you were able to spoof a number, you could probably do it though.
