Guys, do you think they actually pay some of these people to go on the show, just for the audition part? Because there's no way in hell these people are that stupid, I'm talking about some that obviously have no talent whatsoever and just get on there and make ass clowns out of themselves.

Yes, they probably are that stupid, and the makers of American Idol know that they suck. The makers also know that this will boost ratings, and make the other marginally less sucky contestants look good by comparison. This translates to more CD sales for the winners.
