They might not have any emotional attachment to the cars they make, but they put a lot of care and work into what they do. They do some amazing work, and have amazing work done for them (see the Alumatub body that Marcel made for them? Stunning considering it came from *one* drawing). They put top notch work into their cars, thought their crew does seem very rag-tag, regardless, they do some *great* work.
The process of building that body was indeed amazing, but I'm wary of giving BC credit for it.
I was struck on the first episodes of the show by the fact that they built an ugly blue and yellow hot rod using a prefab fiberglass body from Australia - I have a hard time seeing why such a car would have any particular cachet, when it is basically a glorified kit car.
The Alumatub looks like it will be awesome, but I have to question the quality of engineering that underlies it, since they always appear to be making things up as they go, and don't appear to be able to reach consensus as to things as simple as whether a frame is straight. That Alumatub should be blisteringly quick, but I wouldn't have a high level of faith in its ability to hold up to regular driving.
I think the show is interesting, but I have to say that I am getting a little burned out by the pacing - we are now on the fifth Alumatub episode, and it's not clear whether it will be done even then.
