Just watched it again for like the billionth time. The message is still as strong today as it was 7 years ago.

Well, to quote the movie directly... "Hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time."

Look past people's differences and get to actually know the person instead of just stereotyping them into some category.

On a side note, according to IMDB...

The script's conclusion had Derek shaving his head in the bathroom of the school, transforming back into a skinhead after what happens at the end. (not going to give spoilers) However, this was never filmed and dropped from subsequent re-writes of the screenplay.

I am glad this was dropped since the current ending makes it a more powerful film, in my opinion at least.

Yeah, I think it's better the way it ended up being too. I finally got around to seeing the movie last year myself.

I sort of pictured the movie ending with Derek turning back into a skinhead after what had happened to his brother but it didn't end that way. This movie is a must see!

yeah...

good flick, but i think the issue would've been better presented if his brother died by his own hand. not suicide, but as a direct result of his own actions. edward furlong just saying "ok big bro, i won't skinhead it up anymore" just seems too peachy keen. kinda sets up the hanging sinker for the bathroom scene homerun.

i like how he explains the rodney king thing.

how the looting wasn't an outlash against racial oppression, but was selfish opportunistic attitude at it's worst. fact is, they robbed their own neighborhoods. that sure struck me.

Good movie. Still have a hard time recognizing Ed Norton in his skinhead role and his role from some of his other movies - Smoochy Must Die, anyone?
