American Graffiti vs Dazed and Confused

Haven't seen Dazed and Confused, but a huge fan of American Graffiti. My father grew up cruising and street racing in So Cal's San Fernando Valley back in the late 50s and 60s, and he introduced me to the movie at a young age.

Even into the 70s, he would sneak out on my mom to go street racing. He blew the engine in his 1960 hot rod Ford truck while out racing one night. To cover he told my mom he had sold it to a friend, which delighted her because she always hated fast cars. And motorcycles or guns or anything else we guys found exciting but she thought too dangerous.

The summer after my parents split I got a pocket knife, dirt bike, motorcycle, .22 rifle and went hunting rabbits and squirrels for the first time. I dearly love my mother, but those things go a long way in a 10 year old boy's heart.

Both had there moments but Dazed & Confused is closer to my High School years and then there a 17 year old Milla Jovovich so ... Dazed & Confused.

I found Dazed and Confused to be boring, meandering, and at times annoying. I couldn't relate with the characters or any of their decisions at all and it didn't really feel like it had much of a point. I could see the soundtrack making up for all of that for people who are really into it though..

American Graffiti felt like it had themes and characters that were easier to relate to and had a more concrete narrative and story progression.
