American Gladiators

I know some of you think this show is crap, but between the new events and all the new gladiators I think you should give it a 2nd shot. Yes, Hulk Hogan and whatshername Ali both suck, and yes it's cheesy, but I enjoyed the first "season" and the 2nd one seems even better.

It was pretty amazing to see the guy with one leg compete. I thought it was stupid at first, and I'm still not sure they weren't giving him some breaks and hiding it with creative editing, but he did appear to finish the Eliminator on his own. Even though they stopped the travelator thing at the end, they do that for anyone who can't seem to finish.

Anyone else watch it?

watched the first couple of shows...it is reality TV wrestling.

Horrible...everything they do is so over the top it is just pathetic.

As soon as I saw the crowd simultaneously giving thumbs down while "Another One Bites the Dust" played as someone fell in the water I just turned it off.

I watched some of it last night while cleaning the kitchen. I had to fast forward through some of the parts with the amputee. I don't know why they had him on. Ok, it made for a somewhat inspirational story but the poor guy was at such a disadvantage on the majority of the events that it was painful to watch. Wolf was able to climb up right next to him on the wall climb without really trying hard and yank him down.

The new female gladiators Jet and Phoenix were hot though.

The little rock climber guy that won season 1 is back as Rocket.

Yep. That's why it's "ah well" and not "I guess I'll stop watching". I think it's great entertainment. Not high-brow, exactly, but fun.

Queasy, I agree sometimes it was hard to watch. I actually complained the entire show about what an awkward and bad idea it was to have him on until the Eliminator. I thought the fact that he finished was actually kind of cool.

I have fun watching the show. Last season a bunch of people and I got together to holler and make bets about how the various events would go.

Just a few changes and the show would be pretty good, but as it stands its just silly. The hosts are useless, but the more important problems are with the events themselves. Its like they didn't want to copy the games from the original series exactly, so they tweaked them a bit but wound up making them significantly less interesting.

I didn't see the eliminator last night so I don't know if they changed that, but it was awful last year. There were 0 exciting finishes because most of the contenders were so gassed by the end of it that they crawled across the finish. The eliminator they used around Season 4-5 of the original series created some really great finishes..

The girls on the first episode this season took almost 10 minutes and were sitting down to rest before taking on the travelator because they were so tired. One of the guys did it in 2 minutes :Q

Jet is the season 1 ladies winner. I almost didn't recognize her.

I loved Evan last season, and him as Rocket this season cracks me up for some reason. I didn't think he catch up to the guy on the wall, but he did and knocked him down.

It's a cheeseball show, but it's hilarious and fun to watch.

I saw some of it last night. One of the female contestant got so wound up, she couldn't shot the ball with the sling and aim the launcher backward. it cracked me up because she still got the points. Then this other lady got her daughter in the stand hold up the sign, "I :heart: you mommy". Then she got knock into the water within 5 sec of the contest. Pan to the daughter, utter devastated expression on her face. Pan to the gladiator doing the happy dance. It was priceless.

That might've been the best part of the show. I laughed loudly at that one.

The only thing i really don't like about the show is hellga. I over look hogan and the other chick. Hellga just doesn't give the i can kick your butt look. Titan looks like a muscle fairy but atleast he has muscle.

I have yet to sit down and watch the new one, but me and my friends enjoyed watching the original. It was entertaining. Extremely over the top and the Gladiators played hardcore stereotypes, but it was entertaining nonetheless.

Yeah, it was cheesy back then too. But it had that special 80s flavored "Running Man" cheese to it.

The current version kind of has a 'wink wink' American Idol cheese factor.

The current version kind of has a 'wink wink' American Idol cheese factor.

I've always enjoyed shows like this where theres a physical element and competition involved. It's just something fun to watch.
