So I got my AMEX Gold card last February with $2000 limit. They upped it to $3500 in June, $5000 in September, and $8000 now  I usually spend around $2000/month and it`s been that way since I got the card... weird.

Lightweight...my Amex Blue Cash limit is $17,600.

Of course they want you to spend more money, so they can make money off you! Do you really think they're in the business of being friendly and giving you free cash?

Well, see that's what I mean. I never go over $2000/mo whether my limit is $2000 or $8000. And I`m a college student, not like my income goes up every other month. Weird.

Why is it weird? You keep saying "weird," but you haven't explained why you think it's weird. They want you to spend more than you can afford, so they keep raising your limit. Why is that weird?

just a quick question... sorta.

amex gold cards have a credit limit? is it a delta gold card? i thought all amex gold cards (besides the aforementioned delta gold card) are charge cards to be paid in full every month. can someone shed some more light on this for me please?

I guess I am not explaining it right :p My monthly purchases never exceed $2000 so it`s stupid to increase my line of credit but I guess you are right, it doesn`t hurt them to do so, thus they increase it. I just thought they`d increase your limit if you asked for it and showed proof of income increase or something...

I have neither a full-time nor a part-time job... $18,500 is a lot but unnecessary for me. I don`t spend what I cannot afford :p

:) I`m using my Delta card a lot because I do a lot of international travel and it`s good to have as many miles as you can so I can get business/first class upgrades on Delta, Northwest, Air France, etc. :)

Probably would be using my Citi Mastercard only if they upped my limit to at least $2000. It`s at $1500 right now and I have 750+ credit score with decent savings in the bank.

Count your blessings...they won't raise my limits at all. In fact, I had no limit and they put an 8500.00 limit on me...
